Carrot Seed Essential Oil
Most people mistake carrot seed oil for carrot oil, but the two are different. While carrot seed oil is an essential oil, carrot oil is not. Carrot oil is a combination of crushed carrot roots with a carrier oil, but carrot seed oil is extracted from the Daucus carota plant seeds.
Carrot seed oil is popular in the cosmetic industry for its effectiveness in eliminating wrinkles, tightening the skin, toning it, and removing any signs of ageing.
It carries an earthy, root-like, and musky aroma. Carrot seed oil blends well with oils like Cypress, Lavender, Geranium Egyptian, and Spearmint.
History
Carrot Seed Essential Oil
The Daucus carota is also known as Wild Carrot. In Europe, it is commonly known as Queen Anne’s Lace. It is a flowering plant that has white blossoms. It is naturally rich in vitamins and minerals and carries powerful healing powers.
It is mainly sourced from European countries, and its origins are Egypt, France, and India. In ancient times, carrot seed oil was popular among the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, French, and Indians used for its power in relieving flatulence and soothing inflammation. In other areas, it was combined with other essential oils to address the same issues.
It is still popular today for this benefit and others like repairing mature and damaged skin and other medicinal benefits.
The tiny seeds of the Daucus carota are dried first and the oil is then extracted through the steam distillation process.
