Description
Oil Summary : Camphor White oil is commonly used for muscular aches and pains. Additionally, it can be used to ease headaches and enhance perception. Camphor oil is commonly used in detergents and soap; as disinfectants and household sprays. The oil has various topical uses due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties. The scent of white camphor oil is known to have a calming effect on the mind. It, therefore, helps against sleep-pattern disorders like insomnia. There are four fractions of Camphor Oil: Brown, Yellow, Blue and White. Only the White camphor oil is used for health and aromatic uses. The other fractions contain high amounts of safrole, which makes them toxic. However, white camphor oil has the potential to cause dangerous side effects if used in large quantities. Because it is native to Asia, specifically the forests of Taiwan (Formosa), Japan, and China, it is also known as Japanese Camphor and Hon-Sho. Camphor Oil is steam distilled from the branches, chipped wood, and root stumps of the Camphor Tree. Then, it is vacuum rectified and filter-pressed, during which the four fractions of Camphor Oil: White, Yellow, Brown, and Blue, are produced. However, producers realized that the leaves were better for removing oils because they had a quicker rate of regeneration. Do not use camphor products if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, as it can cause congenital disabilities. Lastly, because camphor is readily absorbed across the skin, it should never be used on cats or dogs due to risks for poisoning.
